CTLS 2018 Ghent Belgium - The CTLS 2018 Congress
CTLS2018@VIB will be held July 1-4th, 2018 in the beautiful and historic city of Ghent. Settled as far back as the Iron Age at the confluence of the Scheldt and Leie rivers, the current city dates from the founding of Saint Bavo’s abbey in 650 by Saint Amand (patron saint of brewers). For the conference CTLS will use the University of Ghent’s congress center, Het Pand. The facility is housed in a former Dominican abbey dating to the 13th century. It can hold up to 400 participants and despite it’s complete modernization retains it’s medieval charm.
Over the 4 days of the conference there will be plenary and parallel sessions focusing on core facility operations, management and specific technologies of interest to facility staff. A Keynote talk will be given by 2001 Nobel laureate Sir Paul Nurse. Poster sessions will be held to allow core scientists to present new developments in their technologies and a core facility marketplace area will also be available for facilities to promote their expertise and services. A Belgian beer tasting, guided boat trip through the city’s canals and conference dinner at the old fish market will highlight the social program.
CTLS2018@VIB aims to offer core facility staff and those interested in careers as expert scientists an opportunity to learn, network and forge alliances to strengthen core facility science throughout Europe.
